Residents and businesses are being consulted about a new controlled parking scheme to restrict HGVs and coaches from parking in Trumpers Way in Hanwell.
A resident in Lambourn Close, Humes Avenue came to my advice surgery back in June 2013 to complain that coaches parking in Trumpers Way were waking her family and her neighbours up when starting or running their engines late at night and early in the morning.
There is already an existing overnight ban on HGVs and coaches throughout the borough, and I initially arranged for the council’s parking contractor to monitor the area and enforce the existing ban in July and August. However, enforcing the existing ban proved to have limited effectiveness as the coaches continued to park in Trumpers Way when the overnight ban was not in force and particularly during the day at weekends. As a result, officers in the council’s Highways team have agreed to my request to introduce an all day controlled parking scheme to restrict HGVs and coaches, the first of its kind in the borough.
The council is now consulting on a 24 hour ban for HGVs and coaches weighing over 5 tonnes parking in part of Trumpers Way between Boston Road and Belvedere Road. Consultation papers have been mailed out to 138 homes and businesses around the proposed zone this week including Belvedere Road, Boston Road, Lambourn Close, Rosedale Close, Townholm Crescent and Trumpers Way.
The deadline for responses is March 22nd and, if it is approved by residents, the scheme will be funded by the Elthorne ward forum.Leave a comment
